    Palm Sunday, Cycle C

    3/21/2016

    Luke 22:14-23:56

Palm Sunday is also called Passion Sunday because the Feast is not so much about palms as about the suffering and death of Jesus.  Like taking out a family picture album—the road to the cross is the painful part that many would want to forget.

We often speak about a person’s life, not so much about their funeral.  However, in the case of Jesus—His death canceled all death—all funerals have a different meaning because of Jesus Christ.  He opened the door to freedom—death has no more power.

Yes, we remember the Passion, but we know that the Passion was our ticket to life.  Therefore today is a glorious day—We know how the story ends.  Together with Christ we carry our cross and never loose hope.  In death we find life—our real life begins when we hand ourselves over completely to God.

      Msgr. Gustavo Barrera,
celebrated his first Holy Mass as pastor on September 15, 2007, the feast day of Our Lady of Sorrows. With his enthusiasm and spiritual guidance, OLS continues to serve our Catholic family in a way that challenges us to grow as an evangelizing community.
