Seems like we are experiencing a death and dying situation. Much of what we like to do, people whose company we enjoy, places that we frequent have all been put on hold. “Shelter in place” order is being enforced for our benefit—our safety. Not too many of us look to make sacrifices. We’d rather take the easy way—whatever is painless. Jesus showed us the way to freedom. He invited His followers to take up the cross. The cross is never easy. Yet, after death comes life—true life. If we are willing to die with the Lord, we will also live with the Lord. All suffering will pass. There are no explanations that answer our questions. Therefore. we want to say like Jesus, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass, yet, not as I will, but as you will.” We give thanks for the gift of Faith. Christ’s love for us is our salvation. In Him we place all our hope.
On a normal Palm Sunday we would have picked up a palm branch and raised it to be blessed during the entrance hymn. However, this is not a normal Palm Sunday and we cannot distribute palms because we have to stay home and only leave for a grave necessity. When the crisis is over palms will be made available.
