What are the steps now?
Marriage Preparation
A couple desiring to be wed will schedule an interview with Pastoral Assistant Patsy Vela as the first step toward walking down the aisle. You will be informed and guided on the procedures leading up to your big day.
Current parishioners and their children are welcome to be married at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish. Please note that the Diocese of Brownsville requires a six to twelve month period of preparation prior to wedding. Weddings at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish are held in the Chapel and may be scheduled up to one year in advance.
A bride and groom not registered as a parishioner of Our Lady of Sorrows may be married at this parish with proper permissions from their home parish.
Marriage is the unique sacrament where you and your spouse make the complete and irrevocable gift of yourselves to one another. We pray that you will find this to be a time of grace as you prepare to celebrate your love in this sacrament. Our Lady of Sorrows parish looks forward to assisting you, particularly as you reflect on the sacramental character of marriage in light of your own relationship.
