Nursing Home Ministry exists in order to bring the Eucharist and prayerful companionship to the Catholic residents of Colonial Manor and McAllen Nursing Homes. In an effort to keep the elderly and infirm as much a part of our faith community as possible, our ministers go to these homes every Thursday morning (9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.) to share the Eucharist, break open the Word and enjoy fellowship with one another.
The Nursing Home Ministry of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church consists of a group of dedicated parishioners who visit the residents of Colonial Manor Nursing Home and McAllen Nursing Home. The Communion service provided allows the residents to enjoy hymns, union with Our Lord and prayerful fellowship. For those residents unable to attend the Communion service in the Community Room, special ministers take the Eucharist to their rooms.
During Lent and Advent, Msgr. Gustavo Barrera celebrates Holy Mass and administers the Sacrament of the sick to all of the Catholic residents. |
